
A longtime Connecticut educational administrator, Morgan Barth was involved in setting in place the state’s innovative Achievement First (AF) public charter school network. From 2004 to 2008, Morgan Barth engaged as a founding teacher with Elm City College Prep in New Haven, Connecticut, and instructed English language arts at the 5th and 6th grade levels. He supported a full range of school start-up activities, including curriculum design and students and family recruitment.
Mr. Barth next accepted leadership responsibilities as principal of Elm City College Prep and spent three years building a safe and structured school environment that allowed students to achieve strong academic outcomes. During his tenure as principal, the institution achieved recognition as a Connecticut School of Distinction and was the top-ranked school statewide for African-American student achievement.
Mr. Barth’s most recent position was as principal of AF Amistad High School in New Haven and he was successful in positioning the urban school as US News and World Report’s number one ranked high school in Connecticut.
